Gates of Olympus 2500 Review

Multipliers up to 2,500x, four free spins types, five special bets and a 25,000x max win

Our score: 9.0/ 10

Quick verdict: the series' newest game is also its most feature-packed. The grid, paytable and pay-anywhere tumbles are the original's, but six orb designs now carry multipliers up to 2,500x, a wheel picks one of four free spins types, and there are four bonus buys and five special bets to choose from. The game calls itself high volatility, returns 96.52% in normal play and caps wins at 25,000x the bet. Plenty of choice, as long as you keep the expensive options in check.

The game

What is Gates of Olympus 2500?

Gates of Olympus 2500 is the latest Zeus slot from Pragmatic Play, released in . At its heart sits the formula players already know: a 6×5 grid without paylines, where 8 or more matching symbols anywhere on screen pay, winners burst and fresh symbols tumble in, and multiplier orbs can drop on any spin.

The changes are all in what surrounds that core. Multipliers now run up to 2,500x, five times the original's top value, and two crystal orbs join the four winged ones. The free spins round comes in four types, picked by a wheel before it starts. And where the original had one ante switch and one buy button, this game has five special bets and four bonus buys, costing from 1.25x up to 1,250x your base bet.

The look stays close to home. Zeus hovers beside the reels in front of a temple in the clouds, flanked by columns with burning braziers, and the crown, hourglass, ring, chalice and five gems use the same art as the original.

The ceiling has moved too. Wins are capped at 25,000x the bet, five times the original's limit; in the series only Super Scatter, at 50,000x, goes higher.

Paytable

Symbols and paytable

Nothing has changed here. The nine paying symbols, their artwork and their values are exactly those of the 2021 original, paid for 8–9, 10–11 or 12 or more of a kind anywhere on the grid. The table gives each pay as a multiple of your base bet: at a 1.00 bet, 25x pays 25.00.

The Zeus scatter

Zeus appears on every reel and pays wherever he lands: 3x the bet for 4 scatters, 5x for 5 and 100x for 6. Four or more also start free spins, and the scatter pay is added on top.

Because the symbol values haven't moved, the extra firepower in this version comes entirely from the multipliers. A crown win still tops out at 50x; a 2,500x orb on the same tumbling sequence is what turns it into something much larger. Expect most base game wins to be small and the big ones to depend on orbs.

Step by step

How to play Gates of Olympus 2500

  1. Pick your base bet

Adjust it with the plus and minus buttons by the spin button. The minimum is 0.20 per spin.

  2. Choose a bet mode

Leave Special Bets off for normal play, or switch on one of five modes that raise the cost of each spin.

  3. Spin the 6×5 grid

Eight or more of the same symbol anywhere on screen win. Winners vanish and new symbols tumble in.

  4. Collect the orbs

When the tumbles stop, every multiplier on screen is added up and the sequence's total win is multiplied by the sum.

  5. Land four scatters

Four or more Zeus symbols give 15 free spins, and a wheel decides which of the four types you play.

The key feature

How the multiplier orbs work

Six multiplier designs can land on any reel, during spins and tumbles, in the base game and in free spins. Four are the familiar winged orbs in green, blue, purple and red. The other two are new: crystal orbs set in laurel frames, one blue-white and one pink.

Whatever the design, each orb takes a random value from one list of nineteen: 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 8x, 10x, 12x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 250x, 500x, 1,000x, 1,500x, 2,000x or 2,500x. The top four go past the original's 500x ceiling, and 2,500x is the largest value anywhere in the series.

In the base game the rule is unchanged. Once the tumbling sequence ends, all multipliers on screen are added together and the sequence's total win is multiplied by the result. A 25x and a 100x make 125x, not 2,500x. An orb that lands on a spin with no win multiplies nothing.

In free spins, how the orbs count depends on which of the four types you get, which the next section explains. Our multiplier guide covers every game in the series and includes a calculator.

Bonus round

The four free spins types

Four or more Zeus scatters anywhere on the grid award 15 free spins. Before the first spin, a wheel lands on one of four free spins types. The type is chosen at random; the rules describe the wheel animation as "a graphic representation for entertainment purposes", so it shows the result rather than deciding it. If you buy the round instead, you pick the type yourself.

In every type, 3 or more scatters on a free spin add 5 more spins, and special reels are used for the round. What changes from one type to the next is how the total multiplier grows and how often it is applied.

Super Free Spins 1Orbs that land on a winning spinOnly on wins where a new orb lands10x500x
Super Free Spins 2Every orb that lands, win or notOn every win for the rest of the round10x1,250x

Why the type matters so much

Free Spins 1 plays like the original. An orb counts only if it lands on a spin that wins, and the total only multiplies a win when a fresh orb arrives with it. Orbs on dead spins are lost, and wins without a new orb are paid at face value.

Free Spins 2 wastes nothing. The buy menu sums it up as "any multiplier hit collects": every orb is banked, and the total then multiplies every win until the round ends, new orb or not.

The two Super types follow the same rules but put a 10x floor on every orb, so even the smallest one adds a lot to the total. In a natural trigger you can't choose; Ante Bet 3, covered below, only shifts the odds towards the stronger three.

Page 3 of the Gates of Olympus 2500 rules, explaining that 4 or more scatters award 15 free spins of a randomly selected type, how the total multiplier works in Free Spins 1 and 2 and their Super versions with a 10x minimum, the 5 extra spins for 3 scatters, and the 25,000x max win.

Special bets: three antes and two Super Spins

The rules express every bet mode as a "bet multiplier", with normal play at 20x. Divide by 20 and you get what a spin costs in terms of your base bet: Ante Bet 1, at 25x, costs 1.25 times the bet, and Super Spin 2, at 5,000x, costs 250 times.

Antes and Super Spins in practice

The antes make free spins come round more often. Ante Bet 2 and Ante Bet 3 give the same eightfold boost; Ante Bet 3 costs twice as much as Ante Bet 2, and all the extra money buys is better odds of a stronger free spins type. All three antes return 96.49%, a fraction below normal play.

The Super Spins work the other way: free spins are switched off, and every spin instead comes with a guaranteed multiplier, of any value in Super Spin 1 and at least 25x in Super Spin 2. A guaranteed multiplier is not a guaranteed win, though. If the spin produces no winning symbols, the orb has nothing to multiply.

Buying skips both the wait for four scatters and the wheel: you choose the type and the 15 free spins start straight away. All four buys carry the same 96.50% RTP, so a higher price doesn't buy better value. It buys a bigger average round.

That has a practical meaning. Over a very large number of rounds, a Free Spins 1 buy is designed to return about 96.5x the bet for its 100x price, and Super Free Spins 2 about 1,206x for its 1,250x price. The long-run loss is 3.5% of the cost either way, but a single round of any type can return far less than it cost.

Buys and special bets aren't offered at every casino or in every country. Our bonus buy guide compares the options across the series.

The numbers

RTP, volatility and max win

RTP: 96.52% in normal play. The rules screen in Pragmatic Play's demo lists ten modes. Normal play is the highest at 96.52%; the three antes are 96.49%; both Super Spins and all four buys are 96.50%. The spread is only 0.03 percentage points. Over a very large number of spins the game is designed to return about 96.52 of every 100 staked in normal play; any single session can land far from that.

Your casino's figure may be lower. Pragmatic Play offers casinos several RTP settings for many of its games. Open the rules with the "i" button before you play and check the number shown there.

Volatility: high. That is the game's own label, on the intro screen and in the rules, the same rating as Gates of Olympus 1000. The original and Super Scatter rate themselves medium.

Max win: 25,000x. If a round's total win reaches 25,000x the bet, the round stops, the win is paid and any remaining features are forfeited. At a $2.00 base bet that's $50,000.

Bet limits. The rules list a minimum bet of 0.20 and a maximum of 60,000. We read that top figure as the most expensive special bet at the highest stake rather than the price of a normal spin, so check the limits at your own casino.

The whole series is compared on our RTP and max win page.

This was one round with virtual credits, and it shows how the feature behaves, not what it pays. With a 96.50% RTP, Free Spins 2 is designed to return less than its $500 price on average, and plenty of rounds will pay much less than ours did.

Like the rest of Pragmatic Play's catalogue, the game is built in HTML5 and runs in the browser on iPhone and Android with nothing to install. Held upright, the screen stacks everything in one column: the logo, Zeus and the "Win up to 25,000x bet" line at the top, the grid in the middle, then the Buy Feature and Special Bets buttons and the spin controls underneath.

Both menus are there on a phone, with the same four buys and five special bets. With options costing hundreds of bets just two taps away, it's worth setting deposit limits at your casino before playing on the go.

2500 has the largest multipliers in the series and more ways to pay for features than any other game in it. It's the one to pick if you enjoy choosing how a session plays out. If you would rather have one simple game at a gentler pace, the original is the better fit; if the cap is what matters most, Super Scatter's 50,000x is double this game's.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Multipliers up to 2,500x, the biggest in the series
  • Free Spins 2, where every orb adds to a total that multiplies every win
  • Four buys and five special bets: more choice than anywhere else in the series
  • 96.52% RTP in normal play and 96.49–96.50% in every other mode
  • The original's simple pay-anywhere rules and paytable
  • Detailed rules screens that explain every mode
  • Free demo and a tidy portrait layout on phones

Cons

  • High volatility: long quiet runs are normal
  • The priciest modes can empty a budget fast: one Super Spin 2 costs 250 normal spins
  • On a natural trigger the wheel picks the type, not you
  • Super Spins switch free spins off completely
  • Released in September 2026, so not every casino has it yet
  • Buys and special bets aren't available everywhere

Yes. Pragmatic Play kept everything that made the original work and added real choice on top: Free Spins 2, where no orb goes to waste, is the most interesting change to the series' bonus round so far, and the rules explain every mode clearly. The catch is that some of those choices are very expensive. Treat normal play and the cheaper antes as the main game, and the Super Spins and big buys as something to approach with a firm limit, or not at all. If you prefer a calmer ride, the original is still there.

FAQ

Gates of Olympus 2500 FAQ

Who makes Gates of Olympus 2500 and when did it come out?

Pragmatic Play released it in September 2026. It is the newest game in the Gates of Olympus series and keeps the original's 6×5 grid, paytable and pay-anywhere tumbles.

What is the RTP of Gates of Olympus 2500?

96.52% in normal play, according to the rules screen in Pragmatic Play's demo. The three ante bets are 96.49%, and both Super Spins and all four bonus buys are 96.50%. Some casinos may run a lower-RTP version, so check the rules in the game you open.

Is Gates of Olympus 2500 high volatility?

Yes. The game labels itself high volatility on its intro screen and in its rules, like Gates of Olympus 1000. The original and Super Scatter are rated medium.

What is the maximum win?

25,000x your bet. If a round's total win reaches 25,000x, the round ends at once, the win is paid and any remaining features are forfeited.

How do the multipliers work?

Six orb designs, four winged and two crystal, can land on any spin with a value from 2x to 2,500x. When the tumbles stop, all multipliers on screen are added together and the total win of the sequence is multiplied by the sum. In free spins they also build a total multiplier, in a way that depends on the free spins type.

What are the four free spins types?

Free Spins 1 works like the original: orbs that land on a win join the total, which is applied when a new orb lands on a win. In Free Spins 2 every orb joins the total, and the total multiplies every win for the rest of the round. Super Free Spins 1 and 2 follow the same rules with a minimum orb value of 10x.

How is the free spins type chosen?

Four or more scatters award 15 free spins, and a wheel then picks one of the four types at random; the rules say the wheel animation is only a graphic representation. Ante Bet 3 raises the chance of the three stronger types. If you buy the round, you choose the type yourself.

What are the special bets?

Five modes that change the cost of every spin. Ante Bet 1 (1.25x the bet) doubles the chance of free spins; Ante Bet 2 (2.75x) makes it 8 times higher; Ante Bet 3 (5.5x) adds better odds of a stronger free spins type. Super Spin 1 (20x) and Super Spin 2 (250x) guarantee at least one multiplier on every spin, 25x or more in Super Spin 2, but switch free spins off.

How much do the bonus buys cost?

Free Spins 1 costs 100x the bet, Free Spins 2 250x, Super Free Spins 1 500x and Super Free Spins 2 1,250x: from 200.00 to 2,500.00 at a 2.00 bet. All four have a 96.50% RTP, and buys aren't available at every casino or in every country.

Can I play Gates of Olympus 2500 for free?

Yes. Pragmatic Play's free demo uses virtual credits and includes every buy and special bet, so you can try the expensive modes without risking money. See our demo page.

How we checked the numbers

Apart from the release month, every figure on this page comes from the game itself: we read the in-game rules in Pragmatic Play's official demo on , opened the Buy Feature and Special Bets menus at a $2.00 base bet, played on desktop and in a phone-sized window, and bought one Free Spins 2 round with virtual credits. If the rules screen at your casino shows different numbers, those are the ones that apply to you.
