Gates of Olympus POP Review

Zeus on a 3×5 phone screen: three jackpots, 1,000x multipliers, low volatility and a 25,000x cap

Our score: 8.1/ 10

Quick verdict: POP folds the series into a narrow, upright grid of 3 reels and 5 rows, made for a phone held upright. Five matching symbols anywhere win, tumbles keep a spin going, and orbs worth up to 1,000x wait on screen until the tumbling stops. A new POP symbol turns a free spins trigger into an instant 50x, 500x or 25,000x jackpot. There is no bonus buy, the game rates itself low volatility, and the demo's rules list a 97.05% RTP.

The game

What is Gates of Olympus POP?

Gates of Olympus POP is a Pragmatic Play slot released in as part of POP, the studio's new sub-brand of casual games. It keeps the ideas that made the series famous, pay-anywhere wins, tumbles and winged multiplier orbs, and fits them onto a grid of 3 reels and 5 rows that stands upright like a phone screen.

The art has changed with the format. Zeus is now a cheerful chibi figure: on the intro screen he sits on a gold throne among piles of coins, and in play he stands beside the spin button under the grid. The setting is still a temple above the clouds, drawn in soft pinks and golds.

POP is the odd one out in the family. It is the only game in the series that labels itself low volatility, and it swaps the bonus buy for three jackpots shown in a bar above the reels. Its ceiling is still 25,000x your bet, five times the cap of the original Gates of Olympus.

Paytable

Symbols and paytable

Only six symbols pay, and each has three tiers: 5–6, 7–8 or 9 or more of a kind anywhere on the 15 positions. Values below are multiples of your total bet, so at a 1.00 bet a value of 8x pays 8.00.

Scatter and POP symbols

  • ScatterChibi Zeus
  • POPRainbow bubble

Two special symbols can land on every reel. The scatter is a smiling Zeus, and the POP symbol is a rainbow bubble with the word "POP" on it. They work as a team: any 3 of them on screen, in any mix, start the free spins. Each POP symbol in that group also lifts the instant prize, as the next section explains. The rules list no pay for scatters on their own.

The top of the table matches the original: 9 or more crowns pay 50x, the same as 12 or more in the 6×5 game. The bottom is very flat, though. A group of 5 yellow gems returns a fifth of your bet, so most single wins are small, and the multipliers and jackpots supply the bigger moments.

The first page of the Gates of Olympus POP rules at a 2 dollar bet: pays for 5 to 6, 7 to 8 and 9 or more of the crown, hourglass, ring, red gem, purple gem and yellow gem, followed by the Zeus scatter and the rainbow POP symbol, both present on all reels.
The paytable at a $2.00 bet: 9+ crowns pay $100.00, or 50x.

The POP symbol and the three jackpots

Above the grid sits a bar with three named prizes. They are not progressive: each is a fixed multiple of your total bet, and the bar simply shows it in cash at your current stake. You win one when the 3 symbols that trigger free spins include POP symbols. The more POPs in the group, the bigger the prize, and it is paid instantly.

3 POPNo scattersBurst25,000x$50,000.00

Every row in the table starts the same 15 free spins; the POP symbols only decide what is paid on top. Burst, for three POPs, is worth 25,000x, which is also the game's maximum win. Spark and Snap, at 50x and 500x your bet, are the two smaller prizes.

A Gates of Olympus POP rules page: 1, 2 or 3 POP symbols in a combination of 3 pay 50x, 500x or 25,000x the total bet, followed by the tumble feature and the blue, red, purple, green and crystal multiplier orbs.
The rules: 1, 2 or 3 POPs in the trigger pay 50x, 500x or 25,000x.

Step by step

How to play Gates of Olympus POP

  1. Set your bet

Use plus and minus beside the spin button, or open the bet menu from the coin stack. Stakes run from 0.10 to 250.

  2. Spin the 3×5 grid

Any 5 or more of the same symbol anywhere on the 15 positions pay. There are no lines.

  3. Let it tumble

Winning symbols disappear and new ones fall in, as many times as new wins form.

  4. Keep the orbs

Multiplier orbs stay put until the tumbling ends, then their sum multiplies the whole sequence's win.

  5. Look for three

Any 3 scatter or POP symbols give 15 free spins, plus a jackpot if a POP is among them.

The base game at a $2.00 bet, with the jackpot bar above the reels.
The Gates of Olympus POP bet menu: bet multiplier 10x, bet 1, coin value 0.20 dollars, total bet 2.00 dollars and a Bet Max button.
The bet menu: bet 1 × coin value $0.20 × the 10x bet multiplier = $2.00.

The key feature

How the multiplier orbs work

Five orbs can carry a multiplier: winged blue, red, purple and green orbs, plus a crystal orb in a gold frame. They can land in the base game and in free spins, and each takes one of sixteen values: 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 8x, 10x, 12x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 250x, 500x or 1,000x. The top value matches Gates of Olympus 1000 and doubles the original's.

An orb doesn't vanish when the symbols around it burst. It stays where it landed until the tumbling sequence is over. Then the game adds up every multiplier on the screen and multiplies the sequence's total win by the sum, so a 3x and a 10x together make 13x. If the sequence won nothing, the orbs pay nothing.

In free spins the orbs also build a total multiplier that lasts for the whole round: see the next section. Our guide to Gates of Olympus multipliers covers every game in the series and has a calculator.

Bonus round

Free spins, step by step

Any 3 scatter or POP symbols anywhere on the grid award 15 free spins, and any POP symbols in the group add their jackpot on top. The scene changes to an aurora night sky with blue flames, and special reels are in play.

The round revolves around a total multiplier, kept in a winged holder to the right of Zeus. When an orb lands on a spin that wins, its value is added to the total. From then on, every winning spin that brings a new orb is multiplied by the whole total. A win without a fresh orb is paid at face value.

Retriggers are easier than in the big games: 2 or more scatters during the round add 5 free spins, where the 6×5 games need 3. Here is the round we triggered in the demo at a $2.00 bet.

The numbers

RTP, volatility and max win

RTP: 97.05% in the demo. That's the figure on the rules screen of the version we played, and it's higher than the 96.50% of the original. Over a very large number of spins, the game is designed to return about 97.05 of every 100 staked. A single session can land far from that in either direction.

Your casino's version may differ. Pragmatic Play's own page for the game lists 96.54%, so more than one version is in circulation. Before you play for money, open the rules with the "i" button and check the RTP your casino runs.

Volatility: low. That's the game's own label, on the intro screen and in the rules, which describe low-volatility games as paying out more often in smaller amounts while still offering a chance of a big win. Every other Gates of Olympus game rates itself medium or high.

Max win: 25,000x. If the total win of a free spins round reaches 25,000x the bet, the round ends there and any spins left are forfeited. At the 250 maximum bet that's 6,250,000. The Burst jackpot alone is worth the full 25,000x. Our RTP and max win page sets the numbers of all six games side by side.

Bets, and no bonus buy or ante

Stakes run from 0.10 to 250 per spin, half the original's 0.20 minimum at the low end. The bet menu shows a 10x bet multiplier: your total bet is the bet level times the coin value times 10.

The version we played has no bonus buy and no ante bet, so the only way into free spins is to land them. In the 6×5 titles, 100x the bet or more buys the round at once; here the jackpots take the buy's place, and they cost nothing extra. Our bonus buy guide lists what the other games offer.

What happened when we played

Our demo test

We played Pragmatic Play's free demo on with virtual credits, at a $2.00 bet, on autoplay. With no buy available, we waited for the bonus to come on its own: it arrived after about 50 spins, with 3 scatters.

The base game felt busy rather than dry. Small wins came often: tumble wins between $1.20 and $5.20, and one "Nice!" celebration for $4.52. That fits the low-volatility label. The free spins built a 5x total and paid 16.2x the bet, a modest round. One demo session is an illustration of how the game behaves, not a forecast of what it will pay you.

Phones and tablets

Gates of Olympus POP on mobile

This is the game in the series that was designed for the phone first. Held upright, it fills the screen from top to bottom: the jackpot bar, the 3×5 grid, then Zeus and the controls, all within reach of your thumb. Nothing has to be rearranged, because the portrait layout is the game.

It runs in the browser on iPhone and Android, as Pragmatic Play builds its games in HTML5, so there's no app to install. On a desktop screen the same tall column sits in the middle of the window with clouds on either side, as in the picture at the top of this review. Hold the spin button for turbo spins, or set up autoplay from the controls under the grid.

Yes, if you mostly play on your phone or prefer a calmer game on a smaller budget. POP is the odd one out: a small grid, low volatility and jackpots where the other games have a bonus buy. Wins come often and small, and our free spins round paid a modest 16.2x. The Burst jackpot still gives it a 25,000x ceiling, above the original's and the 1000's. If you'd rather buy the bonus or chase big multiplier totals on a full grid, the 1000 and 2500 versions suit you better. Whichever you play, set a budget first.

FAQ

Gates of Olympus POP FAQ

Who makes Gates of Olympus POP and when did it come out?

Pragmatic Play released it in August 2026 as part of POP, its new sub-brand of casual games. It is a portrait spin-off of Gates of Olympus, built for phones.

How do you win in Gates of Olympus POP?

Land 5 or more of the same symbol anywhere on the 3×5 grid. There are no paylines. Groups of 5–6, 7–8 and 9 or more pay three different amounts, and winning symbols tumble away so new wins can follow on the same spin.

What are the Spark, Snap and Burst jackpots?

Fixed prizes paid instantly when the 3 symbols that trigger free spins include POP symbols: 1 POP pays Spark (50x the bet), 2 POP pay Snap (500x) and 3 POP pay Burst (25,000x). These are the names on the in-game bar; Pragmatic Play's website swaps Spark and Snap, but the amounts are the same.

How do I trigger the free spins?

Land any 3 scatter or POP symbols anywhere on the grid for 15 free spins. During the round, 2 or more scatters add 5 more spins.

How do the multipliers work?

Winged orbs and a crystal orb worth 2x to 1,000x can land on any spin. They stay on the screen until the tumbles end, then all of them are added together and multiply the sequence's total win. In free spins each orb that lands on a winning spin is also added to a total multiplier that lasts for the rest of the round.

What is the RTP of Gates of Olympus POP?

97.05% in the version in Pragmatic Play's demo that we played. Pragmatic Play's own game page lists 96.54%, so casinos may run different versions. Open the rules in the game at your casino and check.

Is Gates of Olympus POP high volatility?

No. The game rates itself low volatility, the only game in the Gates of Olympus series to do so. As the rules put it, low-volatility games pay out more often, in smaller amounts.

What is the maximum win?

25,000x your bet. If a free spins round reaches 25,000x it ends immediately and any remaining spins are forfeited. The Burst jackpot alone is worth 25,000x.

Can I buy the free spins?

No. The version we played has no bonus buy and no ante bet. Bets run from 0.10 to 250 per spin.

Can I play Gates of Olympus POP for free?

Yes. Pragmatic Play offers a free demo with virtual credits, and it plays well on a phone in portrait. See our demo page.

How we checked the numbers

The paytable, jackpots, multiplier values, free spins rules, volatility, RTP, bets and max win on this page come from the in-game rules of Pragmatic Play's official demo, which we read on . The same day we played the base game on desktop and in a phone-sized window and let autoplay run until free spins triggered naturally, using virtual credits only. The release month and the POP sub-brand come from Pragmatic Play, and the 96.54% RTP figure and the swapped jackpot names come from its own page for the game. If the rules screen at your casino shows different numbers, those are the ones that apply to you.
