Gates of Olympus Super Scatter Review
Super Scatters worth up to 50,000x, 2x–500x orbs and a 500x Super Free Spins buy
Our score: 8.9/ 10
Quick verdict: this is the original Gates of Olympus with one powerful extra. A gold Super Scatter can land on any reel in the base game, and when it's part of a free spins trigger it pays 100x to 50,000x the bet on the spot. The grid, the paytable, the 2x–500x orbs and the medium volatility rating are unchanged. The RTP is 96.50% (96.55% with the ante), and a second buy starts free spins in which no multiplier is worth less than 10x.

What is Gates of Olympus Super Scatter?
Gates of Olympus Super Scatter is a Pragmatic Play slot released in . Underneath, it is the original Gates of Olympus: a 6×5 grid with no paylines, where 8 or more matching symbols anywhere pay, winning symbols tumble away and winged orbs bring multipliers from 2x to 500x. What it adds is a second kind of scatter, and with it a far higher ceiling.
The look is the original's, repainted in warmer light. The reels sit in a red-and-gold frame, pink clouds drift past a temple staircase, and Zeus wears gold armour. On the intro screen he floats to the left of the grid; once you're playing he stands on the right, below the Super Scatter logo. The tagline on the intro screen points straight at the bonus round: "Increasing multiplier in free spins".
Because the symbol art is shared, anyone who has played the original will know the crown, the hourglass and the gems at once. The new piece to watch for is a gold lightning medallion marked Super Scatter.
Paytable
Symbols and paytable
The paytable is identical to the original's. Nine symbols pay at three levels: 8–9, 10–11, or 12 or more of a kind anywhere on the grid. Values below are multiples of your total bet, so 2.5x at a 2.00 bet is 5.00.
| Symbol | 8–9 | 10–11 | 12–30 |

Two kinds of scatter
The Zeus scatter works as before. It can land on any reel and pays wherever it lands: 3x the bet for 4, 5x for 5 and 100x for 6.
The Super Scatter is new. It counts towards the free spins trigger just like Zeus, but it carries its own instant prize, explained in the next section.
Zeus scatter3x, 5x or 100x
Super Scatter100x to 50,000x
As in the original, the low end of the table is thin: 8 blue gems return a quarter of the bet. The orbs and the scatters are where the real money is.
The new feature
How the Super Scatter pays
The Super Scatter is a gold medallion with a lightning bolt across it. It can appear on all six reels during base game spins. To the free spins trigger, it is simply another scatter: any combination of 4 or more scatters, Zeus or Super, starts the round.
The difference comes when at least one Super Scatter is part of that group of four or more. Then the game also pays an instant prize, and its size depends only on how many Super Scatters are in the combination. Each one moves you up a tier, and the jumps are steep: from 100x for a single Super Scatter to 50,000x for four.
The count must reach four with both kinds together. Three Super Scatters and no Zeus scatter make only three scatters, so they trigger nothing and pay nothing. Three Zeus scatters and one Super Scatter, on the other hand, start the free spins and pay 100x.
| Super Scatters in the combination | Prize (× base bet) | At a 2.00 bet |
|---|---|---|
1 Super Scatter | 100x | 200.00 |
2 Super Scatters | 500x | 1,000.00 |
3 Super Scatters | 5,000x | 10,000.00 |
4 Super Scatters | 50,000x | 100,000.00 |
Step by step
How to play Gates of Olympus Super Scatter
-
Choose a stake
The plus and minus buttons by the spin button set the bet, from 0.20 to 360 per spin.
-
Spin the grid
Eight or more of the same symbol anywhere on the 6×5 grid is a win. No lines to follow.
-
Let it tumble
Winning symbols disappear and new ones fall into the gaps, so one spin can pay several times.
-
Add up the orbs
Multiplier orbs that land in the base game are added together and multiply the spin's win.
-
Watch both scatters
Four or more scatters of any kind start 15 free spins. Super Scatters in the group pay an instant prize too.
The orbs
How the multiplier orbs work
The orbs haven't changed. Four winged spheres, green, blue, purple and red, can drop onto any reel in the base game and in free spins. Each shows one of fifteen values: 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 8x, 10x, 12x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 250x or 500x. The colour is only decoration.
In the base game, every orb on the screen is added together and the total multiplies the spin's win. An orb worth 4x next to one worth 6x gives 10x, not 24x. If the spin doesn't win, the orbs pay nothing.
In free spins the orbs also feed a total multiplier that lasts the whole round, covered in the next section. Our multiplier guide explains the maths for every game in the series.

Bonus round
Free spins and Super Free Spins
Four or more scatters of any kind, Zeus, Super or a mix, award 15 free spins. During the round, 3 or more scatters on one spin add 5 more, and special reels are in play. The Super Scatter is not on those reels: inside free spins only the Zeus scatter can land.
The engine of the round is the total multiplier, shown on a column to the left of the grid. Each orb that lands on a winning spin adds its value to the total, and the total never goes down. Whenever a later win brings a new orb, the whole total multiplies that win. A win without a new orb is paid as it stands.
There are three ways in: land the scatters, buy Free Spins for 100x the bet, or buy Super Free Spins for 500x. The super version is the same 15 spins with one rule changed: every orb is worth at least 10x.
We bought Super Free Spins in the demo at a $2.00 bet. This is how the round went.
Paying for features
Ante bet and the two buys
| Mode | Cost | At a 2.00 bet | What you get | RTP |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Normal spin | 1x bet | 2.00 | The standard game, with Super Scatters on all reels | 96.50% |
| Ante bet | 1.5x bet | 3.00 | More scatters and Super Scatters on the reels; both buys are switched off | 96.55% |
| Buy Free Spins | 100x bet | 200.00 | 15 free spins at once; 4, 5 or 6 scatters land at random on the trigger | 96.50% |
| Buy Super Free Spins | 500x bet | 1,000.00 | The same 15 free spins, with every multiplier worth at least 10x | 96.49% |
The ante. The rules describe it as a bet multiplier of 30x instead of the normal 20x, which is why a $2.00 stake becomes $3.00. The switch itself is labelled "double chance to win feature". At 1.5x it is the most expensive regular ante among the 6×5 Gates of Olympus games (the original, 1000 and Xmas 1000 charge 1.25x), but it is also the only mode that lifts the RTP, to 96.55%. Since it adds Super Scatters as well as Zeus scatters, it is the setting built for chasing the big instant prizes.
The buys. They put 100 or 500 bets into a single round. Don't count on a Super Scatter prize from them: the rules describe a bought round as starting with 4, 5 or 6 scatters, with no mention of Super Scatters, and the Super Scatter never lands in free spins. A bought round can return several times its price, as ours did, or a small part of it.
With RTPs between 96.49% and 96.55%, no mode is clearly better value in the long run; they differ in how the risk is spread. Not every casino or country allows buys and antes. Our bonus buy guide compares the options across the series.
The numbers
RTP, volatility and max win
RTP: 96.50%, or 96.55% with the ante. The rules in Pragmatic Play's demo list 96.50% for the base game and for Buy Free Spins, 96.55% with the ante and 96.49% for Buy Super Free Spins. The gap between the best and worst figure is less than a tenth of a percentage point; over one session, luck counts for far more.
Check your casino's version. Pragmatic Play lets casinos pick from several RTP settings for many of its games. Open the rules with the "i" button at your casino and compare the figure with the ones above before you play.
Volatility: medium. That's the label on the intro screen and in the rules, the same as the original. It can look modest next to a 50,000x cap, but the everyday game, with its paytable and orbs, is the original's. The higher ceiling comes from the Super Scatter prizes on top.
Max win: 50,000x. The highest cap in the series and ten times the original's. Once a round's total win reaches 50,000x the bet, the round ends, the win is paid and any free spins left are lost. At the 360 maximum bet, that is 18,000,000.
Every game in the family is compared on our RTP and max win page.

Our demo test
We played Pragmatic Play's free demo on with virtual credits, at a $2.00 bet, and bought one round of Super Free Spins for $1,000.00 to see the most expensive feature from start to finish.
- Bonus cost
- $1,000.00
- Bonus won
- $1,642.60
- Return
- 821.3x bet
- Versus cost
- 1.64x
- Top total multiplier
- 139x
The orbs started at 10x, as the super buy's rules set out. The total multiplier had reached 87x by spin 10, then 97x, and stood at 139x when the round ended. One "Sensational" pop-up alone showed $941.05, more than half of the final $1,642.60. In play money the round finished $642.60 ahead.
Treat that as an illustration, not a forecast. It was one round, with credits that aren't real. At 500x a time, Super Free Spins can also lose most of what they cost, and a single result says nothing about what the feature pays on average.
Phones and tablets
Gates of Olympus Super Scatter on mobile
Like the rest of Pragmatic Play's catalogue, the game is built in HTML5 and plays in the browser on iPhone and Android, with nothing to download. Hold the phone upright and the screen stacks: the logo and Zeus at the top, the grid in the middle, and below it both buy buttons and the ante switch in one row above the spin button.
Nothing is lost on the small screen. The rules, pays, Super Scatter prizes and buys are the same as on desktop, and the intro shows a Super Scatter on the reels so you know what to look for.
The family
How Super Scatter compares with the series
| Game | Shared with Super Scatter | What's different |
|---|---|---|
| Original | Grid, paytable, Zeus scatter pays, 2x–500x orbs, 15 free spins, medium volatility | No Super Scatter, one 100x buy, a 1.25x ante, a 5,000x cap |
| 1000 | Grid, paytable, 15 free spins, the 100x buy | Orbs up to 1,000x, high volatility, a 1.25x ante, a 15,000x cap, no Super Scatter |
| Xmas 1000 | The same as the 1000 version | The 1000 rules in a snowy Christmas look, with Zeus in a Santa hat |
| POP | Tumbles, orbs and a growing total in free spins | 3×5 portrait grid, 5+ wins, three jackpots, low volatility, no buy |
| 2500 | Grid and paytable | Orbs up to 2,500x, four free spins modes, four buys, five special bets |
Super Scatter sits in an unusual spot. It keeps the original's medium volatility and 500x orbs, yet it has the highest ceiling of the six games, 50,000x, because the Super Scatter works like a built-in jackpot on top of the familiar maths. The price is the costliest regular ante among the 6×5 games. Our comparison of all six games helps you choose.
Balance

- Super Free Spins cost 500x the bet, and a round can lose most of it

Our verdict
Is Gates of Olympus Super Scatter worth playing?
Overall score: 8.9/ 10
Yes, particularly if you liked the original but wanted a bigger target. Super Scatter leaves alone everything that made the first game easy to follow and adds one symbol worth watching on every base game spin, with a cap ten times higher. The extra cost is real: a 1.5x ante and a 500x buy are steep, so set a budget before you try either. If you want the formula at its cheapest, play the original. If you want the most room to win in the series without moving up to high volatility, this is the one.
FAQ
Gates of Olympus Super Scatter FAQ
What is the Super Scatter in Gates of Olympus Super Scatter?
A gold lightning medallion that can land on any reel in the base game. It counts as a scatter towards the free spins trigger, and if at least one Super Scatter is part of a combination of 4 or more scatters, it also pays an instant prize.
How much do Super Scatters pay?
In a combination of 4 or more scatters of any kind, 1 Super Scatter pays 100x the base bet, 2 pay 500x, 3 pay 5,000x and 4 pay 50,000x. At a 2.00 bet, one Super Scatter is worth 200.00. Fewer than 4 scatters in total pay no Super Scatter prize.
How do I trigger the free spins?
Land 4 or more scatters anywhere, Zeus scatters, Super Scatters or a mix of both, for 15 free spins. During the round, 3 or more scatters add 5 more spins. Super Scatters do not appear in free spins.
What are Super Free Spins?
A second bonus buy that costs 500x the bet (1,000.00 at a 2.00 bet). It gives the same 15 free spins as the regular 100x buy, but every multiplier orb is worth at least 10x. Its RTP is 96.49%.
What is the RTP of Gates of Olympus Super Scatter?
According to the rules in Pragmatic Play's demo: 96.50% in the base game, 96.55% with the ante bet, 96.50% for Buy Free Spins and 96.49% for Buy Super Free Spins. Casinos may run lower-RTP versions, so check the rules screen in the game you open.
Is Gates of Olympus Super Scatter high or medium volatility?
The game rates itself medium volatility, the same as the original Gates of Olympus, despite its 50,000x maximum win.
What is the maximum win?
50,000x your bet, the highest in the Gates of Olympus series. If a round reaches 50,000x it ends at once, the win is paid and any remaining free spins are lost. Four Super Scatters in a trigger pay exactly 50,000x.
How does the ante bet work?
The ante raises your stake to 1.5x the bet (3.00 at a 2.00 bet). In return, more scatters and Super Scatters appear on the reels, and the RTP rises to 96.55%. Both bonus buys are switched off while it is on.
How is Super Scatter different from the original Gates of Olympus?
The grid, paytable, 2x–500x multipliers, 15 free spins and medium volatility are the same. Super Scatter adds the Super Scatter symbol, raises the max win from 5,000x to 50,000x, adds a 500x Super Free Spins buy, charges 1.5x instead of 1.25x for the ante and allows bets up to 360 instead of 300.
Can I play Gates of Olympus Super Scatter for free?
Yes. Pragmatic Play's demo uses virtual credits and includes both buys and the ante. See our demo page.
